Most of the neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but it is not a locally designed historic district. The locally designed historic districts of Jacksonville are the Springfield Historic District, Riverside Avondale Historic District, and St. Johns Quarter Historic District. The National Register is a honorary designation, while local historic districts need to follow the Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) process before exterior changes are made to the property.
