It’s been the rap for RiverTown in St. Johns County that it is too far off the beaten path to attract as many Jacksonville and St. Augustine new home buyers as they would have liked. But how do you move a neighborhood?
Mattamy Homes (who has just concluded its RiverTown purchase from St. Joe Company) figured out it was mostly the long trek down State Road 13 that put most buyers off, as well as the distance between 1-95 and the community entrance on SR13. As the new owner/developer, Mattamy has decided to move the official RiverTown entrance road entrance to its eastern end, thus roughly cutting in half the 15 mile distance from I-95 down to about 7.5 miles. This should help, especially due to the fact that the new entrance will be just a quarter mile down Long Leaf Parkway from the Bartram Springs High School.

RiverTown is currently home to about 150 families, and Mattamy expects to grow it to about 4,950 homes by 2023, with 500,000 square feet of commercial space, which will include 300K square feet of retail and 100K square feet of office and industrial space.
