Home prices soaring in Florida, Market Statistics Show Florida enjoying 28 straight months of market growth. By: Alan Aptheker  What’s good for Florida is almost certainly good for the Jacksonville Real Estate market. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported this week that Florida's housing market sustained higher median prices, more new listings and a comfortably stable inventory in the month of March. Single family home sales for last month:  20,081. That’s a gain of 2.8 percent over the March 2013 figure.   Most significant perhaps, is that March signaled the 28th consecutive month that Florida median sale prices rose, both for single family and townhome/condos.     Statewide median sales price for single-family existing homes in March: $173,000, a gain of 7.1 percent…

appears we would do well to tap into the sun for more of our energy here in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville is one of the best cities in America with the potential to exploit solar power.  By: Alan Aptheker  It appears we would do well to tap into the sun for more of our energy here in Jacksonville.

A report from Environment America Research & Policy Center indicates that Jacksonville is among the top 20 cities in the nation recognized has having the potential for massive amounts of photovoltaic power. In fact, we're #13, just behind Sacramento.
Special mention was given to Neptune Beach. They've reduced power costs at Neptune Beach City Hall by installing 140 solar panels. In 2013 alone, that's saved the city some $7,300 in reduced energy costs. It may not sound like much, but more cities participating in…

37 million Americans will move this year. 37.5 million Americans will move this year. Slightly more than half will buy instead of rent.

American Express Spending & Saving Tracker reports that sixteen percent of Americans will find a new place to hang their hats this year. That’s six percent more than in the previous two years, when the number hovered around 10 percent.    Buying will be more popular than renting, they report, with about 17 million people planning to purchase a home or condo, compared to about 16 million who will rent.     It’s all about consumer confidence.
Confidence is currency in the home sales market. Even though these homebuyers know they might have to pay more to get exactly what they want, the level of buyer optimism is looking to reach a four-year…

RiverTown in St. Johns County, off of SR 13, soon accessible from I-95
Mattamy has recently completed its purchase of the RiverTown development from St. Joe Company.

Mattamy Homes (who has just concluded its RiverTown purchase from St. Joe Company) figured out it was mostly the long trek down State Road 13 that put most buyers off, as well as the distance between 1-95 and the community entrance on SR13. As the new owner/developer, Mattamy has decided to move the official RiverTown entrance road entrance to its eastern end, thus roughly cutting in half the 15 mile distance
